Based on the results of the jury’s vote, JSC “MAKhPI named after Academician Polyansky” passed into the second round of the competition.
The plant is located at the intersection of Academician Scriabin and Fergana streets in the southeast of Moscow. The plant was built in 1987 and is a complex of three buildings: production, household and administrative and educational. Now this is an unsightly building in the spirit of the eighties - the horizontal division of the facade typical of industrial buildings, combined with the low quality of building materials, creates a flavor familiar to peripheral areas. The reconstruction should make the enterprise the architectural dominant of the area; but its main feature, probably, is that the enterprise is not removed to make way for housing and offices, but remains in place, only being modernized.
The reconstruction involves a significant increase in the volume of the building complex due to extensions and superstructures of all buildings of the complex. The concept provides for the highlighting of the superstructure and extension of the first floor of the amenity building and the reconstructed first floor of the administrative building due to the contrast of the façade solution. An entrance group is created for the enterprise's product store, and the main entrance to the enterprise is allocated. The entrance to the store, located in the administrative building, is equipped with a ramp to ensure accessibility to all groups of the population. It is planned to create a new entrance group and entrance to the garage for the “professional” training center and access to the territory of the open training ground within the site associated with the training center. An option has been proposed to improve the adjacent territory with the organization of additional transit routes for pedestrians.
The concept involves the use of two main facade materials - metal sheets with perforations according to a given pattern and glass profiles. It is planned to additionally insulate the existing enclosing structures in accordance with standard indicators with a system with a thin plaster layer and frame the window openings with a metal profile. At the locations of the window openings, opening panels are mounted with magnets. This solution was chosen to ensure the continuous operation of the enterprise and training center during the installation period and does not affect the existing enclosing structures and filling of openings. The fastening design makes it possible to provide the required gap between the enclosing structure and the hanging panels for hidden placement of engineering systems and equipment.
