In Moscow, in the presence of Russian President Vladimir Putin and the capital's mayor Sergei Sobyanin, the opening ceremony of Zaryadye Park took place.
For City Day, perhaps the country’s most unusual park, Zaryadye, was built on the site of the demolished Rossiya Hotel in the capital. This is the first new large park in the center of Moscow in the last 70 years.
The area of the park is about 100 thousand square meters. They recreated four climatic zones of Russia - mixed forest, northern landscape, steppe and water meadows. About 1 million plants from these places were planted everywhere, both original and copies adapted for Moscow weather. And in the water meadows, two ponds up to 1.1 meters deep with water lilies appeared.
An observation deck with views of the Kremlin, the Cathedral of Christ the Savior and the high-rise building on Kotelnicheskaya Embankment hung above the water. This is a unique bridge, the only one in Russia - it has a 70-meter cantilever without a single support. The height above the river is 15 meters.
Zaryadye also boasts a large concert venue, an Ice Cave and the Zaryadye underground museum.
