Today, September 30, the official opening of the “Crimean Embankment” took place - a European-style recreation area, the implementation of which was carried out by the MAKhPI Institute. Academician Polyansky acted as the general designer.
The mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, opened a new pedestrian zone with an area of 42 thousand square meters and promised in the future to extend it to the territory of “Red October”, thereby connecting it with the historical center.
Sergei Sobyanin at the opening ceremony said: “Today we are opening a landmark object - the Crimean embankment. It’s difficult to tell anything, many have been here and know what was here before and what is here today. This is a truly landscaped area where vehicle traffic is prohibited and all conditions have been created for recreation, for riding bicycles, and for spending time.”
The former roadway has turned into a place for walking and cycling, the area is full of low hills and winding benches, there are fountains in the center of the park, the old nondescript vernissage has turned into an undulating pavilion for artists, among other things, the landscaped area is a continuation of the green line of Gorky Park of Culture and Leisure.
